About You
Name: Impression Age: 20 Gender: Female RP Sample: Can the one I did for Bryce's count here as well?
Your Character
Name: Tristan Kade McGrath Age: 7 Gender: Male Income Tier: N/A Profession: N/A Celebrity: Max Weinstein
Personality:
Not only does Tristan have an incredible resemblance to his mother, but his personality flaws come from her as well! At least, that's how his father puts it. It's all in jest though, because everybody know that Bryce McGrath loved his wife dearly. Besides, what first drew him to her was her personality. So how could he not like Tristan's!? If Tristan was writing this though, he would wonder how anybody could not like him! Yes, that's how outgoing and audacious this spit-fire young man is.
Tristan would describe himself as fearless! Though, on occasion, his father has seen him jump at a few things. Tristan would describe himself as invincible! But the scraps and bruises on his knees from his rough play would speak the truth. No matter what Tristan would say though, he truly has the heart of an angel. Even a sick rat gets his attention! Seriously, that's not an exaggeration. Tristan took a rat with a broken tail to the doctor on board one day. He demanded that it be treated as any other passenger! Yes, the lad can be a bit outspoken at times, but if his father's around...you can be sure that there is no lack of respect shown. Tristan is simply one of those kids that needs his boundaries put in place. Once he's tested the fences and made sure that everything is firm and solid, then there are no quarrels! But be careful, he is certainly quite the tricky little fence tester.
With such a young and growing personality, many of Tristan's characteristics are flaws! He'll even tell you that himself. Just like his mother, Tristan is, at times, to brazen, quite the cheeky fellow, and sometimes...(more often than not) a wonderfully mischievous (he would call it curious) fellow. But don't let that fool you. He is incredibly trusting, just like his father! But unlike his father, this kid is also incredibly forgiving. He seems to be the ultimate optimist...both before and after the death of his mother. There is no mountain to high for him and no ocean to deep. Tristan is an explorer at heart and an adventurer in his soul! In the end, the lad can be trusted...but only as far as the next adventure.
Appearance:
Sadly enough, the only real thing Bryce received from his dad in appearances was his strong face...the bold chin and rigid cheek bones. Everything else was a complete replication of his lovely mother. Her soft blue eyes and straight brown hair. At times, when his father looked at him, he could tell that he would have to force himself to look away. Of course, dad would always try to disguise it, but Tristan could tell. He knew as well as his father that he was parallel to his mother. Tristan knew because, when he looked in the mirror, he too could see her. But for him, that was sort of a blessing. In this way, Tristan felt he could always see her face. He could always keep his mother around because she was in his reflection.
His young body is developing quickly. The hard work of a seaman is never done and Tristan is never willing to miss a beat! He's always helping anybody on the ship he can, learning from anybody willing to teach. His hands are gentle because of the nurses, his arms are strong because of the engineers, and even his feet are quick because of the rats! Everything about Tristan's body reads the life of a seaman. He is sure to develop into a strong lad!
Tristan's fascinating ability to mis-shape his face is probably his most intriguing physical feature. He can screw it up tightly when he's frustrated about something. The cooks can't deny him when he softens it into that angelic pouting look of his. The other kids on board get scared when he conjures up a wicked look. Even the captain gets a laugh though, when he conjures his soft but strong face into a hilarious comic experience. Tristan's exudes all of his personality through his looks. And as of right now, there are no large imperfections on his young body, unless you include that small birthmark on the back of his calf. But then, it looks like an awesome bruise...so Tristan doesn't mind to much!
History:
For seven years of living, Tristan McGrath has tallied up quite the history for himself! He was actually born in the United States of America...but has actually never set foot in the country. You see, both his parents work on cruise liners and they just happened to be on an Alaskan cruise when Tristan was born. His father tells him he came out looking like a ticked off baby seal, even barking like one! But his mother thought he was as precious as a clam's pearl. But you see, Tristan was born on board a ship. So he was literally...born and bred in the ocean. It's a fact that Tristan takes great pride in! And he'll tell you that too.
Still, in the end, this spit-fire little seven year old has no recollection of the United States what-so-ever. Whenever he did set his feet on dry ground, it was always in Italy, with his Grandparents. Sir and Grandmama. He did adore his grandparents, but you wouldn't know it for the way he kicked up a fuss whenever his parents left him there! Even when he was a baby, Tristan wouldn't go quietly. You see, the ocean was his life. It was his blood. Then again, it was a tumultuous relationship the two of them had. After all, it had claimed something very dear to our little Tristan. His mother.
Tristan will never forget the day she left. Her and father were arguing. You see, mom didn't want to go! She had a bad feeling about it, and she tried to convince her husband that it wasn't the usual idea of her missing her son. Tristan of course, began to cry when his father finally won her over and the two left. But this time, his mother knelt down in front of him. The boy, only five years old at the time, tried to sniff back in the snot that was threatening to run out his nose as his mom wiped the tears away. It was her ever soft and gentle voice that calmed him, as if she was smoothing the waters of the sea with her bare hands. You have to be a good boy now my love. It's okay to feel sad, but you can't let your emotions take control of you. You have to learn to be strong now Tristan. Don't worry, I will always be close by my love. My love. That was what she always called him. Mother was always the affectionate one.
No, Tristan would never forget those words. Nor the words his father spoke to him when he had to break the news of his mother's death to his son. But oh he wished he could! Oh how he wished he could! Father walked in the door with his head down. Tristan had never seen him carry himself like that! His face looked as if he had aged 20 years overnight. Without a word, Tristan had gone to him and hugged his leg. His father bent down in tears then, grasping his son tightly. Tristan could hear the piece of paper clutched in dad's hands as he tightened his grip on him. That was probably the scariest part! She's not coming back son. She's at home, in the sea.
Then I want to go home too! Tristan remembered thinking those words. Dreaming about those words. But he never once spoke them! Not even when they had to leave Sir and Grandmama. Not even when they got back on a ship for the first time. His reason? Now that mother was gone, Tristan was the only one left who was around to look after his father. After all, without him around, who would Bryce McGrath have to make sure he would laugh? Who would keep his father company as he read books late at night? Nobody. Tristan couldn't leave his father. His father needed him. And so, Tristan had followed him to this new ship. In his eyes, it was a new adventure...but he could see the look in his father's eyes. This was a new battlefield.
How did he/she get from the ship to the island?:
This storm was different however. There was no warning! Tristan knew it as well as his father. Because Tristan had been born and bred on board ships just like this one (literally). He had learned to read the ocean from the best seaman he had ever known! His mother.
Bryce had been tucking his young son into bed. Tristan begged him for a tale of the sea, even though he knew his father would choose a story of the wild west from the Americas. Ever since his mother had died, Tristan couldn't get his father to speak of any of the wondrous adventures they had shared together. Tristan continued to pester his father for the simple hope that just perhaps, maybe one day...daddy would change his mind. But he wasn't about to pretend to be happy with the selection. Still, the story wasn't very far in when both father and son began to feel a different rhythm in the waves hitting the ship. Being on the ocean all their lives, they both knew something was amiss. Needless to say, story time ended rather quickly. Tristan sat up in bed, about to ask a question as his father put back on his work clothes, when the ship tossed him back against the wall beside his bunk. His eyes grew wide as he saw his father flying back into the sleeping quarters, and then catching himself on the bunk. Get that life jacket on Tristan! Now! He heard his father, but didn't move until the life jacket was flung straight at him. Tristan scrambled to catch it as the boat rocked violently in the opposite direction. Luckily, his father was there and he caught him as they were both forced against the cabinet. Immediately, before they could be tossed again, Tristan was lifted into his father's arms. Hold on tight Tristan! Tristan looked at his dad as if to ask "do you really think I'm that stupid?" They both knew that he already knew the drill. From the time he could walk, he had been a part of the safety drills that were done every time they pulled into port. His mother and father had ingrained in him his roll. Hold on tight to mommy or daddy or whoever mommy or daddy hand you to! Just then, one of the ships officers ran into the two as they came out of Bryce's cabin. Cheif...! I'm on my way! Get Tristan to... I know! Everybody knew the drill when it came to Tristan! Then again, this had never happened for real before! And Tristan didn't so much like his father leaving him in this very real situation. Oh yes, Tristan remembered exactly what had happened to mother. Then again, his father had ingrained in him the need to be strong. So, he grasped the officer's hand tightly and was led down the corridor. Tristan couldn't help but to look back to see his father going in the opposite direction.
The rest was all very fast and extremely hard to remember. Tristan was handed from officer to officer, steward to steward and finally, to a nurse. She caught him in her arms as they were flung to the ground when the cruise liner hit solid land. Immediately, the two were swept into a lifeboat. Tristan recognized one of the men that worked for his father and looked at him strangely. Shouldn't he have been on the ship helping his dad?! The young man just looked away as Tristan scowled towards him. Rowing or not, the boy was sure he wasn't doing his job. Still, he was forced to leave the topic when the nurse grabbed him up and took him ashore. At that time, Tristan must have passed out because he couldn't remember a thing until he woke up in the middle of the night. There was a little fire and the nurse was tending to a small cut he had on his hand from all those falls on the ship. Tristan winced. You're a strong little guy aren't you? I was cleaning it out and you didn't even flinch. Tristan didn't say a word. Normally, he was more vocal...like his mother. But in this moment, he didn't feel the need to speak. As the night wore on, Tristan couldn't go back to sleep. And so, he decided to do what he could to help the nurse. He ran here and there, finding whatever supplies he could and scrounging up whatever the nurse asked him to look for. He was learning quiet a lot about this pregnant lady when he looked over towards the boat. The sun was breaking into the sky and still...his father had not returned. Tristan was beginning to...wait! Was that him?! Young Tristan headed out in a full on run, the nurse's calls washed away by his own heart beat as he lept into his father's arms.
