About You

Name: Abby
Age: 17
Gender: female
RP Sample: --read Juliet Bellamont--

Your Character

Name: Michael Gallagher
Age: 27
Gender: Male
Income Tier: III
Profession: Teacher
Celebrity: Wentworth Miller

Personality:
Michael has a soft and caring personality. He is open with his feelings, and has a gentle soul. He is a patient man, and learned early on that patience really is a virtue. He enjoys going out, but not to your typical up scale dance club. He is more of a jazz club fan. The soothing and baritone notes of jazz suit him to a tee. Coffee houses like Starbucks is where he is found more often than not.

Because of the way he is completely open, even with strangers, he is able to be hurt easily. A woman could easily come in and break his heart. Even though he is hurt easily, he is resilient, and can bounce back once given the proper amount of time. His proper amount of time, however, being a little longer than the average.

He is rather boisterous, not in the unrestrained way, but spirited in his actions. If he does something, he goes all out. It's all or nothing. When he has a significant other, he tends to spoil her. Even when his paycheck is rather lacking, he makes up for it by his creativity.

He can be playful at times. His humor is not lost on people, especially his students. He always has creative ways of teaching his seventh graders the material they need to learn. His students love him. On the rare occasion when he needs to discipline them, however, he finds it difficult to do so. With such a kind heart, discipline has been an inconsistency. A flaw in his character could be his incapability to punish when the situation calls for it. His past doubts come crawling forward, and it is very difficult to punish others There have been moments when he has been rather a pushover. It probably stemmed from his childhood when his brothers were not-so-kind.

Michael was blessed with a musical talent. It ranges from his acoustic guitar to the piano. When he was a child, his mother had him take piano lessens. He never liked them then, but loved his skills now. He plays his acoustic guitar every day. His tunes go from soft and melodic, fun and springy, or dark and depressing. He plays to fit his mood.

He knows he has good looks. That has been proven many times. He does not, however, let it rule his life. He is not beyond using his looks. He only uses them when it really counts. Like winning over his girlfriend after a fight, or sending the principal of his school a flirtatious smile because he played a little joke and did not quite pull it off.

Appearance:

Michael has a body that many would consider beautiful. It is not the sculpted body complete with guns and a six pack, but a lithe body with subtle muscles and tight, soft skin. His complexion is a stunning mocha, courtesy of his mixed African American and Caucasian heritage. He is 6'0 and weighs a steady 180 pounds. He is not skinny, but thin.

His eyes are a beautiful gray color. They never change their color, no matter what his mood. Steady and calm, like the rest of him. He has an intense stare, though. He can pin you down with it and astonish you. Or his eyes can soothe you, and they have been known to woo women into bed with him. He has a strong, prominent nose and a jawline that never ends.

His hair is buzzed down to the stubble. He has matching stubble coating his jawline and chin. His lips are large and full and easily chapped. His lips have been known to be the pleasure of many women. They have a natural pout that would make any woman swoon.

He has a birthmark on the inside of his thigh in the shape of the Eiffel tower. The fact never ceased to amuse him. It was the blunt of many jokes, which he usually began himself. He has a single mole in the middle of his back, and a tattoo on his ankle when he went through the "My life sucks, let me rebel" stage. The tattoo is in the shape of a horseshoe, put there for good luck. He figured out his luck quickly faded because it hurt like hell to be applied.

He has a scar across his right shoulder that stretches long, and it was obviously a deep cut. His brothers had "accidently" pushed him through a window at their house when they were kids. There had been a glass shard stuck in his shoulder, and nearly made it all the way through. He was taken to the hospital and had to get it removed.

History:

Michael was born in Texas into a family of five. He had his mother, father, 2 brothers, and one sister. His house was hectic. Their family was well-off in the money department. They never went without, but they used their money on the things they needed. They lived on a working ranch with cattle and workmen. His brother were 6 and 8 when he was born and his sister was 4. His mother, Sandra, and his father, Patrick, were both excited about the birth of their fourth child. They had always wanted a house full of children.

Living on a ranch taught him responsibility and patience among other things. He had a fantastic relationship with his parents and sister. His brothers were a different story. They pretty much tortured him throughout his childhood and into his teenage years. They saw him as a new toy rather than a person. They would gang up on him and bully him. His parents tried to stop it, but it really didn't help things. It usually made the matter worse. It was how he became somewhat of a pushover. He was so afraid of his brothers, he usually just allowed them to get away with everything. His sister and him really got along, so she was someone he could go to and talk. Even though he had to watch his back with his brothers in the household, his mother tended to dote on him. He was her favorite, even though she claimed to not have favorites. She gave him piano lessons and taught him how to cook.

Everything he is today, he learned from his mother. She is such a kind woman, and always had been. When Michael got married, he wanted the woman to be like his mother.

Once he went to school, he began to be made fun of. Since his father was black and his mother was white, their children were regularly made fun of. Racism still existed in the world, and in his town Michael was unable to escape it. He knew who he was and he was strong. His mother had taught him not to listen to what the children would say to him, and that he was the luckiest boy in the world to have a mother and father who cared for him so much.

He did have one or two really good friends. They were some of the best friends a guy could ask for. They would stand up for him and take his side no matter what it cost him. He also had a girlfriend or two that were pretty amazing. Some broke his heart and he broke others. He decided what really mattered was the people are him who loved him for who he was. The only people who could really get to him were the two older demons that were his blood relatives.

At the age of 16, his sister got pregnant. His stable household soon became an upheaval of emotion. Everyone was tense. She decided with his mother that she would come to term and their mother and father would take care of it like their own. They were older than average to have a child, but the child would be loved nonetheless. His sister's boyfriend, who was a distasteful 23 - whom his parents also did not know about- had taken off the moment he found out Michael's sister's dilemma. At that time Michael was 14, and was shocked that his older sister, whom he looked up to, had gotten herself in this situation. Unlike his brothers and other people of the community, he did not judge
her. He became the person she could talk to and go to when she needed a friend.

When the baby was born, Michael helped to take care of it. She was a gorgeous baby girl, Sara, and she had Michael wrapped around her little finger. When Michael turned 17, he had already begun to teach Sara how to do things. He had played a big part in teaching her how to walk and talk. When he graduated high school, he had already decided he was going to become a teacher.

As he got older he began to grow into his looks more and his once gangly body began to fill out some. He went to college, tearfully leaving behind his mother, father, and his baby Sara. He knew he would never miss anyone more than Sara and his mother. He went to the prestigious college, Brown University, in Rhode Island. He majored in English and minored in Mathematics. With his college rep he would easily be able to work at any school in the country.

To his mother and father's surprise he joined a public school and taught seventh grade English and tutored the students having trouble after school in Maine. His father only voiced his disapproval once followed quickly by being chastised by his wife. Michael decided not to use his family for money. He refused to take a paycheck from them no matter how tight his paycheck way. He had his pride and wanted to live his own life.

Sara stays with him for the summer. He misses her terribly when the school season is in. He loved teaching so much, but he also enjoys the holidays where he can go home and spend time with his family. Over time his brothers have gotten better. They are both married now, which seems to have put a leash on their manic sides. His sister was engaged and very happy in her life. She will tell Sara soon that she is her real mother, and Michael is sure that will lead to drama. His family doesn't know what to do about that situation, but his sister feels it best that Sara knows. Michael will take a vacation from work during that time, to be there with Sara when she needs him.

Michael has many friends in Maine. He has a couple of extremely good friends, both from the school and the community where Michael lives. They all decided they would take a cruise to the Bahamas for one last bash before school started up again.

How did he/she get from the ship to the island?:

Michael had been in the ballroom flirting with a few beautiful women when the waves began to swallow the ship. He was cool under the pressure -- after panicking only slightly (or at least that's what he admits to) -- and when the ship stopped and people were screaming, he began to try and help people. When a few of the other people told them there was an island a short distance away, he helped people get out of the boat and into the water. Luckily he had not gotten injured beyond a few scratches from the fallen glass and a sprained wrist. After all the people who could be helped got out of the ship, he was part of the rescue crew who went to anywhere they could get to help people out. It took all night and part of the morning. They still had not gotten everyone, but they decided they needed to switch groups for a while so they could rest and the other group could continue looking. A tired Michael swam to the shore to join the rest of them -- after having snatched his guitar and a suitcase of clothes from his room.

The only thing that bothers me is that his parents are 'wealthy'. Not that's not plausible or anything, I mean it is Texas! Successful ranchers in SD are more of just 'well off'. So that's just my local impression, I guess. xD No need to change it if you don't want to.

Aside from that, there was a typo that caught my eye (probably because it was at the end there)... but no need to change that either unless you're motivated to. I was almost too lazy to quote it, but I will anyway:

I think it should be *brothers?

Elsewise... I deem thee approved!
