About You
Name: Lille Age: 17 Gender: Female RP Sample: See Sofia Beckett
Your Character
Name: Alexandria Westcott Age: 30 Gender: Female Income Tier: I Profession: Fashion designer Celebrity: Gwen Stefani
Personality:
Alexandria is always on the move. Whether it be through work or play, she has a desire to feel active and involved. She doesn't like being interrupted when she is in the middle of an activity: especially work. Ever since she was a child, she had an innate desire to be doing something, even if it is as minute as folding laundry.
Work always proved to be a great outlet for her spare energy. She is a hard worker, always pushing herself to her limitations. It isn't so much the business itself as it is the "game" of having a career. It involves so many aspects of creativity and logic that it satisfies her need for a challenge. And, as expected, she knows she can succeed and has proven it many times over.
Consequently, these character traits have developed a strong sense of confidence and leadership in Alexandria. She has a natural, almost intimidating, presence when she is in a room. Several interns have tread lightly around her in fear of saying something wrong. Although she isn't the type to necessarily bite your head off for a mistake, she will certainly expose her frustration, and bafflement, with slower minds.
She does not enjoy being bossed around. Although she enjoys a rigorous schedule, she will respond better to explanation rather than demands. Demanding people leave her feeling frustrated and upset. Her expressions convey both of those emotions, but she is not the type to reveal anger. Alexandria does not yell; rather, her anger is silent and very "cold shoulder." Numerous people have often described her anger as emotionless. Of course, this is because Alexandria is good at hiding her anger flaw.
Although she has never been the type to latch onto commitment, Alexandria has reached a happy and stable point in her marriage with Adam. He meets her needs, which in turn makes her agreeable and dependable. Now that she is settled down, her eyes do not linger elsewhere. The realist in her is content to live life as it is rather than believe the grass is greener on the other side. She has made her decision and is willing, and happy, to live with it.
Alexandria is loyal to those she loves but rather tough-minded around strangers. She does not give off a naturally warm aura, even though she is not always trying to come off as cold or rude. As loyal as she is to her husband, however, she occasionally gets frightened into believing her marriage is deteriorating. As far as she knows, it isn't, but when her mind is idle, she manages to work herself into a panic that she isn't a good wife or mother.
Casualties among strangers is another attitude that Alexandria does not uphold. She refuses to go by Alex in public; that name is reserved for use by her husband only. Strangely enough, she can smile when Adam calls her Alex but if her mother called her by the same name, she would scowl and correct her with "Alexandria."
As a mother, Alexandria believed in established rules and facts. This probably derived from her childhood, when she was brought up to view situations as either black or white. She can come across as a little too logical from time to time and often forgets to consider how other people, even her daughter, feel about a situation before she makes a decision.
Alexandria will go to all extremes to uphold her promises and commitments. However, because she is so loyal on that level, she is very careful to make promises. She is honest and straight-forward, preferring to announce the truth rather than dance around it. She expects the same from other people and can get her feathers in a ruffle when things don't go as planned.
She prefers facts over theories. She is not impulsive and would rather plan in advance than run on a whim. Her sudden marriage, however, is a polar opposite example. Most of the time, though, she is not the type to make a decision without careful consideration. She also has a hard time trusting other people to get work done correctly. This can lead to her overworking herself in order to guarantee a job is done right.
Appearance:
Alexandria had always been a rather average girl. She had light-toned skin and straight blonde hair. Her dark brown eyes were set neatly on her face and covered by dark eyebrows shaped in an arched fashion. She stood at a sturdy 5'6" and was medium-boned. She had a chest, but not really one worth flaunting.
However, once Alexandria realized the importance of appearance, she found ways to spice up her "plain jane" look. She started dying her hair bleach blonde at an early age. It wasn't uncommon to see it crimped rather than hanging lifelessly past her shoulders. She began wearing red lipstick in high school, which gave her an even more striking appearance than her bleach blonde hair.
Although her face is a hint too narrow and her teeth are larger than average, Alexandria is able to pull off a unique look that makes her stand out from the crowd. She has five piercings: two in each ear and one at her bellybutton. Besides her piercings and hair dye, however, she remains untouched by abstractions. She is simply an average girl with a little extra spice to make her pop out from the background.
History:
Alexandria Nicole Purdum was born to Michael and Auraleigh Purdum on December 23rd, 1976. The couple, married for three years, had reached a point of financial stability that allowed them to easily accommodate an additional member of the family. With Michael's new, high-paying job in New York City, that vision came true. So, as planned, Alexandria was born, the first and only child.
Enrolled in a private school from the time she was in kindergarten, Alexandria was always surrounded by the prim and proper. The line between what was good and what was bad was black and white without much room for shades of grey. If you skip class, you get detention. The reason why you missed class is not up for debate. These rules and characteristics were deeply-embedded in Alex at a very young age.
Throughout junior high and high school, Alexandria was probably the most popular girl in the school. Her parents were influential in both the local community as well as the city. Michael worked for perhaps one of the most prestigious architectural companies in the nation, while Auraleigh was in the board for her daughter's academy. Although their personalities were very similar and often cause for rubbing each other the wrong way, Auraleigh was very active in her daughter's school life.
Alexandria was surrounded by friends throughout her time in lower school. Whether or not they were genuinely confident in her friendship and loyalty, they stood by her side in most cases. With her bold and confident personality, though, Alexandria didn't necessarily feel the need to always have people supporting her. Even though she could take care of herself, though, it seemed as though people followed her. Thus, in high school, it came as no surprise when she was considered the premiere "it" girl.
Fashion had always been a prime focus in Alexandria's life. Although she wasn't completely fogged by the materialistic importance of clothing, it was still something that interested her more than most other subjects. Striving for the best in her senior year, Alexandria passed all her classes, including two AP courses, and earned admittance into the Fashion Institute of Technology.
University was all she could ever dream it to be. In her third year, she opted to study internationally and spent two semesters in Florence. While she was there, Alexandria was engulfed with culture diversity and a new perspective on her career. She was fascinated by the Italian culture, finding it both intriguing and welcoming, but returned to New York to finish up her Bachelors. Alexandria graduated from FIT with a degree in Fashion Design in May of 2001.
Following her graduation, Alexandria was invited to work for the prestigious Giorgio Armani. To the surprise of her parents, she chose the New York house rather than Italian one. Her decision proved to fall in her favor, for her talent was quickly noticed by the "higher-ups" of the corporation. By winter of 2001, Alexandria was submitting her own work for consideration. In fall of 2002, she was blessed with the success of having one of her pieces in the fall line.
Alexandria got to sit, as is custom, in the front row during the fashion show that flaunted her own design. The show was a success, and the after-party took place immediately afterwards. During the course of the party, Alexandria was introduced to Adam Westcott, one of the musicians that performed during the show. Something seemed to strike a chord, albeit a surprise, for the two managed to find enough to talk about until the end of the celebration.
Adam and Alexandria stayed in contact - they even managed to go out every now and then. Alexandria never knew exactly how to interpret her relationship with Adam. While he seemed to be head over heels with her, she carried a much more realistic outlook. They both came from different backgrounds, families, careers and even social statuses. Nevertheless, time went on and Alexandria began to feel herself growing more and more attached to the idealistic and peculiar man. She wasn't sure how to read him, which only intrigued her further, and he was different from anyone she ever knew. Eventually, whether she admitted it or not, she was in love with him.
November of 2003 called for a dramatic, and rather frightening, turn in Alexandria's life. She woke up one morning feeling a little off. The next day she was ill at her stomach and unable to eat. A few days later she woke up to a weak stomach, only to find herself hanging her head over the toilet. One hour and a pregnancy test later, Alexandria found herself pregnant.
Coming from a very conservative background, Alexandria knew she couldn't confess her pregnancy to her parents. She could, technically, but the result would probably cause more harm than good. When Alexandria told Adam about their current... situation... she insisted on marriage. Rather than wait and let her stomach grow any larger, the two agreed to elope. It was probably the best option anyway, seeing as Alexandria and Adam's parents were also from two very different spectrums.
Alexandria worked through most of her pregnancy. She would wake up feeling horrible, only to push herself forward anyway. Although both Adam and her mother, once she was informed of her daughter's pregnancy, thought she was pushing herself too hard, Alexandria remained constant. Her job was very important to her. She didn't study for four years, including a year in Italy, to lose her job because of morning sickness or back aches.
However, when she was coming closer and closer to her final term, Alexandria, thanks to pressure from her husband and family, went on maternity leave. In July of 2004, on perhaps one of the warmest New York days, a little girl, Victorie, was born to Adam and Alexandria Westcott. Alexandria, as career-focused as she was, still found herself frighteningly attached to her new child. Unfortunately, once her maternity leave was up, she returned to work and left Victorie in Adam's care.
Getting back into the swing of things was difficult for Alexandria. But, like always, she simply pushed herself over her limit and was determined to get up to speed. Work, whether she liked it to admit it or not, became her focal point. This isn't to say she didn't love her husband and daughter, because she did. Work simply was something she was also passionate about. It was the source of their income, seeing as Adam was primarily at home with their daughter, and Alexandria carried its importance on a silver platter.
Around the time Alexandria and Adam's three year anniversary rolled around, Auraleigh and Michael offered a cruise to their daughter and son-in-law. They insisted the couple take their daughter along with them. They claimed Alexandria was working far more than her share, and even arranged the time off with Alexandria's boss. Although the young fashion designer argued at first, she eventually gave in and accepted the cruise offer.
How did he/she get from the ship to the island?:
The cruise was turning out for the best, much to Alexandria's surprise. She worried about being absent from work for the first day, but then melted into the relaxation stage that often accompanied cruise-goers. She was helping Adam put Torie, now three years old, to bed just before the trip took a turn for the worst.
Adam and Alexandria were headed upstairs when the ship lurched to the side. The two dashed back to the cabins almost immediately to check on Victorie. Their concern was mild until they lurched left and right again and the floor began filling up with ocean water. Panic immediately set in, quickening their pace towards the cabin they shared with their three-year old daughter.
By the time they got to the door, it would not open. Alexandria had never felt quite so panicked in her entire life. She was openly frightened, begging Adam to open the door even though she knew he wasn't intentionally trying otherwise. When they finally were able to push the door enough to slide in, it was obvious a dresser had slid against the door. Much to the Westcotts' horror, their daughter was limp on the floor. The toss of the boat had apparently made her hit her head with enough force to kill her upon contact.
Alexandria did not want to leave her daughter. She was in complete and utter shock, mortified and feeling so many emotions at once that she didn't know what to do with herself. She wasn't in tears, but she felt more torn up on the inside than she ever had in her life. When members of the crew came downstairs and demanded the Westcotts abandon ship, Alexandria obeyed without much of a fight. As long as Adam had their daughter, everything would be okay.
Unfortunately, her theory was proven wrong. Escaping and making a short distance for the island, Alexandria's head throbbed. She couldn't piece together what was happening. By the time they got to the island, it was clear that their daughter wasn't going to be waking up. Even though Alexandria didn't want to leave their daughter's body on this island, there was no choice but to bury her.
